The Archivo General de Puerto Rico (AGPR) is part of the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña (ICP), the Government Agency responsible for researching, preserving, promoting, and disseminating Puerto Rican culture in its diversity and complexity. The Archivo General houses a vast collection of historical documents and items related to Puerto Rican heritage and culture. In 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated the region, causing damage to the roof of the building and eventually leading to problems with the integrity of the ceiling.

If not addressed and managed properly issues like these can compromise playing conditions and venue revenues.

Remote monitoring expedites senior care center recovery from water damage

A newly constructed 103-suite senior living center in Oregon was 2 weeks away from opening when the fire suppression system malfunctioned. Despite being recently tested, a sprinkler on the second floor ran for over 100 minutes before someone was notified. Water cascaded over the freshly installed drywall, carpet, and surrounding materials. Emergency response companies were contracted to extract the water and start demolition.

In the fall of 2019, approximately 11,530 undergraduates were housed in facilities designed for 9,366 occupants. This was simply one of the motivators for UC San Diego to expand and create more space for students and faculty. The Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood project would include a total of 5 buildings ranging in height from 9 to 21 stories. This new build includes residential space, administrative offices, classrooms, restaurants, and retail spaces and is expected to be completed with a minimum Silver LEED Certification.

PDX Next, the Portland airport expansion project is a transformative endeavor that uses Oregon’s natural resource of beautiful mass timber in its iconic soaring roof. Compared to concrete and steel, mass timber is quicker to build, uses far less energy, stores carbon, and connects occupants to nature. Contractors responsible for protecting mass timber and other materials wanted to make sure the indoor conditions were properly managed throughout the project.
